Why Mirror of Kings?
The title comes from a simple idea.
A mirror doesn't flatter you.
It doesn't condemn you.
It simply shows you what is there.
As a Christian, I believe God's truth functions the same way. Church leaders have often describes God's law as a mirror that reveals who we really are—not so that we despair, but so that we recognize our need for grace.
That same posture shapes how I want to study history.
When we examine the lives of influential people, we shouldn't ask only, Were they good or bad?
We should also ask:
What made them who they were?
What can we learn from their decisions?
Where would I have succeeded—or failed—in their circumstances?
What does their story reveal about human nature...and about my own?
History becomes far more valuable when it reflects something back to us.
